Task 2.2: Marketing and branding Artist: Bugzy Malone Style: Hip-Hop, Rap, Grime Background information: Bugzy Malone is an English Grime MC from Manchester, England. Branding: What is associated with the artist: Gang Culture, Hoodies, Street Art Colours: black, Multi-coloured (Graffiti), Dark Logo: Hand written serif block capitals. Marketing: Website YouTube and VEVO channels Facebook / Twitter pages Music selling sites, including ITunes and Google play Television airings and appearances, radio Album covers used as a marketing method. Advertising: Songs are played on the radio to promote the albums and songs Social media is used to promote upcoming events and releases Interviews and television appearances Merchandise: Artist products, clothing etc Product placement in videos Promotes the artist and creates more revenue for them Can be seen as a form of advertisement This artist uses his social media such as Facebook and twitter to promote his music by posting about when he is working on a new song with previews and hints about the song and then getting his followers to see his released work as soon as it is released by posting the link to watch and/or buy it on his pages. He also has his own clothing for his fans to buy and where, which in itself acts as a form of free promotion as his fans will promote him and his music through their clothing. This is what our parody of Bugzy Malone's and conventional hip hop and rap artists dress style looks like. We tried to over exaggerate this style by having our actor, who does not look like he belongs in a rap video, wear his conventional snapback sideways and by wearing a cheap plastic gold chain with a $ sign at the end of it.
We feel this helps push the parody of our video as the actor looks very out of place in the video but his clothing would almost suggest otherwise.
